Because of the pandemic, many travelers in Japan had to stay domestic. In order to re-connect people with local culture and create new and immersive experiences, Spotify Japan created Sound Tour, a collection of audio playlists that matched and enhanced the visual nature of popular tourist destinations and attractions. At each location, people could find Spotify codes—creatively constructed by local artisans that fit naturally and seamlessly into the location—which triggered the unique audio experience.
