Following the US Senate’s vote to lift internet privacy rules back in April (opening up user search histories to being mined and sold to advertisers), a new act is seeking to restore the FCC’s original stance on privacy. The BROWSER Act (Balancing the Rights of Web Surfers Equally and Responsibly) would require users to consent and opt in for their sensitive information to be shared. If passed, the bill would apply to telcos, internet providers and tech companies like Facebook and Google.
